Blog #6
I don't see a point in the geni site unless you have some reason to create your own family tree, which I dont. It's time consuming and pretty pointless unless you have some specific demand for this type of document.
I think that the polldaddy site could sometimes be useful in creating projects. You can distribute surveys to people and the site creates the graphs and stuff for you. This is convenient but I'm not sure if it is something that I would necessarily use.
I learned lots and lots of new things about Excel. I learned to use even more complex formulas and also the shortcuts and how to format spreadsheets. This is very useful information to me and I am enjoying this chapter because this is information I have never learned before.

Excel & Mozy
In response to the mozy site, I feel as though it would be helpful to users with a lot of very important documents. The average person probably doesn't want to pay money to protect simple things like music or pictures. One concern I would have would be security, if I were to store my important documents through the site. I don't think I would feel comfortable giving my secure documents to another person or company. Personally, this site is not something that I would use. I would probably stick with a flash drive.

Cloud and Word
In addition, one new thing I learned in Word was how to use the ribbons. I don't have much experience with Word 2007 because I switched to a Mac right from Word 2003. It took me a while to get used to the ribbons and what I learned in this class helped me to better understand them. Another new thing I learned was how to create a letter head. I have never had experience with this before.

My First Blog
I have learned many new things so far in the class. The most important, and probably the most useful, are the shortcuts and key combinations used to quickly navigate Windows. My favorite shortcut is the one that is used to add .com to the end of a URL. For instance, if I type in Google and then press ctrl+enter, it will bring me to google.com. This is very useful and I now use it often. I was surprised to see how many shortcuts there actually are that I was unaware of. I also found the shortcuts for Word to be very useful.
Another important thing that I have learned in this class was the concept of compressing folders. I have a lot of experience using computers and have downloaded files that are zipped but I never understood why. I always just worked around it. I am happy that I now understand this concept.
